British Trials Championship Reeth 2013

Last Sunday, I went up to have a look at the Yorkshire round of the Championship, this year organised by the Richmond club (famous as Scott Trial organisers)

It was held in Low Row near Reeth and consisted of 3 laps of 12 sections, run on 'No Stop' old style rules

Despite being a British Championship round it a was very relaxed, friendly affair with enthsiasts and spectators ebing allowed to wander freely in the paddock and bike display areas

Even the top competitors had time to pass the time of day with everyone and anyone, unlike BSB and MotoX

The sections consisted of steep rocky gullies, rock steps and gravity defying climbs

This was the last section of the lap, section 12 and it was the host's farms 'back garden' - what a playground to ride your bike in, literally 100 yards from their house

However there was some big steps to climb

This was the Championship class and Scotland's No.1 rider Gary McDonald, showing his skill with no part of his bike on 'terra firma', yet he only has about 20" to turn it without hitting the boundary tape

Onto Section 4, a series of massve rock steps on a hill side in a dried up riverbed

This is local girl Katy Sunter, one of only 2 girls in the Support class - moments later the bike stalled and she fell down 6-8' the rock step, landing flat on her back winded and then the bike came crashing down on top of her

No ... she got back up and went on to attempt the next section

More Championship class riders - Trials is great because you can get right up to the action with no crowd barriers etc

Non Stop is much better to watch (and ride cos I cant hop) than all the hopping around. We dont get many rock steps in the south, just claggy clay & slippy chalk. Looks like a good day out.

Enjoyed them pics I rode Low Row (clubman and evening trials) a few times, Our travelling partner Alex Wragg lost his finger in the sprocket their. I've never watched a British championship under no stop rules in recent years, I wrongly assumed they would have opened the sections out, looking at MacDonalds pic that certainly doesn't seem the case.

They have, Gary just got it a bit wrong

Dabill won it on 11 and Browny dropped 22 for 2nd, so they designed a course to take a few marks
