Allihies again.. but off to Asia soon....
Been looking for a new provider for Landline and Broadband out here in the far south west... Getting confused as I think half the websites visited are over offering rather than jst giving a price. So should I go

Vodafone fixed line and broadband and keep my pay as you go phone
Eircom and emobile for he whole bundle

Or what... Why can't they design there websites simply to show you the best deal.....

I find Vodafone the most expensive but the best network and I can tell you that my job brings me all around the country I've tried them all and always come back to Vodafone

Imagine I went emobile... Or any other for that matter, and got rid of my broadband, how easy is it to connect my PC to my smart phone???

Anyone?
It's very easy to connect it's called Internet tethering and works great just make sure you have a contract with your phone co as it dose not come out of your data ad on so be warned.JJH

http://www.getbroadband.ie/ used to do that, but not sure what it's like these days.

ComReg, the so-called telecommunications regulator, has a page here which may help; http://www.callcosts.ie/home/default.asp

Again, I'm not sure how current the info is. ComReg thought that the national broadband scheme via Three Ireland using 3G modems was grand altogether, so to say I wouldn't have a lot of faith in them is a bit of an understatement.

FWIW, I'm operating quite happily off an O2 modem using a Dovado router and it's fine for the basics. Not a lot of use for YouTube, streaming media, Skype and anything else that needs "proper" broadband though. That said, I do a bit of web development, and I've got my office VPN working OK with it, so it's perfectly usable if can live with the limitations any cellular network connection will have.

Hope some of that helps. :beerjug:
