Hi There,

I am looking to get broadband to make researching for a trip next year a bit less frustrating and faster. The ISP's that I have contacted (AOL, BT etc) all require a 12 month contract and as I will be on the road after April only need it for the next 5 months. Do you know of any ISP's that do "month to month" broadband? I'm not worried about downloading MP3's so won't need a big download limit. It will be mainly for surfing forums etc.

Anyone have any suggestions?

thanks

They all look for a 12 month contract because they offer "free" modems and also to pay for the exchange set up fee.

Have you spoken to a real person about this or only read the advertising blurb?

Buy a cheap ADSL external modem (£40-£80), and sign up to Virgin.net ADSL broadband. Only £26 per month, no contract. Great service (although I don't ever need support - speaking in terms of the 512 speed).

i don't think my ISP nildram require a 12 month contract anymore.

512Kbps, no cap, £22.99.

been with them years, so they can't be too grim.

check them all out here.

their comparator looks pretty useful.

Cheap as Chips

Try www.f2s.com

Use them for my customers

They do a 15 quid a month Joby with no contract

with option to buy yer own router

or 22.50 a month with no set up charge

with option to buy yer own router

cant recommend them highly enough.

PS put graham parker in the sign up box and I get a tenner

Ye Ha I'll retire ....

Also look at www.cpbb.co.uk (Central Point), they are based in Sudbury, Suffolk. No 12 month contract, have just signed up with them.

Hi Graham,

I suscribed today to f2s, thanks for the info, they look really good and are definitely the best option for me

I took the Connectlite, up to 2MB speed, max 1Gb per month, for £15, with a £50 connection fee which I should get a refund for).

I tried to put your name (graham parker) in the refer account but that was refused as an account name. I put grahamparker (no space) instead. Make sure you ask them if you don't get the tenner...

Cheers,

Manni

you've been fast... and so have I. Just edited my post, that's what I did in the end... Merry Christmas mate, and enjoy few free phone calls to call family and friends for the New Year!

Broadband

Try Virgin, no 12 month contract only ask for 1 month notice to cease. They will also sell you a modem & 2 line splitters for £20.

£17.99 per month for 3gb download. Line speed 256kbs upload & 576kbs download

I've been using them for the last month with no problems.

this habit of restricting monthly downloads seems to be spreading, and the amounts seem to be getting smaller 15GB with BT (the pants company) down to 3GB with other ISPs - is the end of the unmetered connection nigh?

I doubt it.........the talk is more about unlimited wireless connections nowadays......supplied by various companies and probably paid for by sponsors and/or banner ads (but we'll always find ways 'round those ;) )

I suspect the limits being put on mainstream broadband and adsl servicxes is more down to infrastructure concerns.

But then again, that could be total BS  ;)
