Broken phone - any ideas?

Repo junior's Nokia 3510i has gone on the fritz.

It wont turn on - it just lights up for a second then turns off again.

The battery is good - tried it in another phone.

Tried taking the sim card out and giving it a rest - nada.

She is trying to use this fault as a way of getting a new phone......so - any ideas?

Same happened to my lads phone, same model. But, he dropped it in water, it worked alright after a few hours on the radiator, I dropped mine in beer, same happened, worked all right for 4 months then it did exactly as young Repo's did, sent it back but they wouldn't touch it due to "water ingress" I tried to tell them it was just beer...

The battery connectors sometimes get a bit squashed after use, maybe?

Sounds a good enough reason to get new phone... but they easily fix them if no water/beer ingress.

I broke a phone - sold it on ebay for a good price then bought another (unlocked). It was cheaper than the repair.

Phones are stupidly cheap now anyway...I was in Carphone warehouse thisafternoon looking for a widget so I can link one of mine to the autocom, and they had a nokia pay as you go thingy reduced from 49.99 to 19.99.

At that money, it's not worh bothering about......and it'd make Litlle Miss Repogirls day

Hands up all those people that think Miss Repogirl is going to be happy with a £19.99 phone...

A friend of mine had a similar problem with his son's phone. He discovered that his contract had run for long enough for a free upgrade so thought "I'll get new phone, he can have my old one". Chose upgrade phone with son in tow, ended up getting a slightly posher one and paying an extra £30 (at son's recommendation). Guess which phone young son ended up with

Miss Repos birthday isnt until July though....however it was a bit of a bad day yesterday so I may relent in some way:

Baby Repo was at home cos he has had a bad fever, Miss Repo was off school too, helping me with baby, Mrs Repo came home and we had a bit of a Repo row, she went out to the shops, drove up the drive and saw the Repo cat (Lucky !) dead on the other side of the road...

Miss Repo was heart broken, and to cap it all, phoneless.

So, I could

a. hunt out a new phone and get a kitten this weekend.

b. In the interests of character building, get Miss Repo to bury Lucky using her broken phone as a spade....
