Merry Christmas all,
Just had a go at cleaning my brown down pipes with product being sold over the counter of my local Motarrad dealer. It's called Optiglanz (appears to be locally made, not much in the way of advertising or flashiness to the bottle), but f*ck me does it bring them up good. Just by spraying the probably highly corrosive liquid on, waiting for a few seconds then wiping off with a clean cotton rag, all but the worst heat damage was completely removed.
I was chuffed to bits, took about 30 mins all in and I have save myself the price of a set of down pipes to match my new can (Remus Powercone - see other threads).
No sure whether it's available widely but it's only about £8.00 for a 300ml bottle. I needed about a third of a bottle to do the lot.
Have a ganders for yourselves...:bow

Let me know if you want some and can't get, a reply on here will suffice. Have a great Hogmanay and look forward to another cool year of MotoGp.:D

nice job, but be careful on this site as you may get a reet ear bashing for talking about cleaning your bike.

I got me heed kicked in off various gsers on this forum for me fin cleanin thread-'the bastards' have been on tranquilizers ever since:fiddle

:D

I tried cleaning mine with autosol, but got really fed up with all that polishing. I may give wonder wheels, shiny sinks and maybe even cillit bang a go.

I wish the pipes went blue/purple like the old 70's bikes with chrome headers instead of that dull shitty brown colour.

Ignore the piss taking and all that macho "my bikes dirtier than yours" crap. Get it dirty by all means but clean it and it'll last longer and be worth more come resale time, the finish on BM's is OK but not rot proof. I've seen a few neglected 1150's in SPC over the years, they aren't a pretty sight. The 1200's aren't finished any better. No shame in taking pride in your wheels.
