Yesterday I was having a play with http://www.radarvirtuel.com/ as mentioned on this very site. Very interesting it is too.
But the site gives me the following message as part of the display -
"We strongly advice all Internet Explorer users to switch to another browser, like Firefox, Chrome, Opera or Safari. Internet Explorer is not powerful enough to run this website."
So should I change and to which one and do they cost money ?
My machine has recently acquired a little icon called Browser Choice
http://www.browserchoice.eu/BrowserChoice/browserchoice_en.htm and I know not where it came from although I assume some software update or the other but it is recent but it does have instal links (not used) for browsers various.
I would like some verification about this Browser Choice before I used it as I am very nervous of things that just appear.
Thanks very much.

I've been a big fan of Firefox for many years and it is my main browser. I don't think I even have MS Explorer on my PC! You can download it from their website for free here.

I also use Safari from time to time which is the Apple Mac browser re-formated to run on Windows PC. It too is free here.

Have fun!:thumb

Hi

Browser choice is a microsoft update that the EU made them include.

I use Firefox all the time and love it because its so configurable. Others report that Google Chrome is pretty good too. Both are free downloads.

I'm a big fan of Firefox, I've used it for about 8 years or more now. I occasionally use Safari too and it has a lot going for it, although you may find one or two sites that don't support this browser.

My advice is to give them a try and decide for yourself. Both are good browsers and are probably faster and more secure than IE.

Changed to Firefox a couple of months ago... seems quicker and more intuitive than IE.

:beerjug:

PS: I am not a geek.

I'd used Firefox for years but have just switched to Chrome. Firefox lost its forward and back buttons at the top left and also all my Bookmarks:eek: Whatever I did, they wouldn't come back.
Chrome came highly recommended and is working well.

Thanks OM but I've loaded Firefox now and as you can probably tell this reply is actually via Firefox.
I've now done a comparison using internet explorer and firefox on http://www.radarvirtuel.com/ which was the reason for my original posting,
and no I can't spot a performance difference.
But I do quite like the look of Firefox so I'm off to do a little learning now.
Thanks again people, appreciated.

Actully it reads: we don't want to spend too much in development time to make the website IE compatible, or cannot be arsed at all. :D

I hate IE quite a lot, but there's always workarounds for it.
Switch to Firefox though ;)
