Hi Guys,

Her indoors managed to volunteer my services to look at a laptop belonging to a neighbour.
Its got lots of nastys on it, nothing worth mentioning usual crap.

However a couple of websites keep popping up/trying to hijack internet explorer and the name of a couple of them is errrr.......... troubling me.:eek

Is there a way to look at the browing history so i can have a quicky looky and decide to proceed or run like feck ?

Its on xp with avg free .

Thanks in anticipation

Happy new year

If it were me - apart from the run-away option - I'd give it back to her to back-up the minimum number of doc's, jpg's or other files that she needs and then do a re-install - or opt to do a back-up assuming they you get the OK to make a choice. Above assumes that the XP install disc is available. You could download something like Belarc Advisor to determine what applications are already installed and see if she has installation discs for them - if not, and if a free-download is not available, she should be told before a re-imaging of the disc.

With any other approach, you've really no idea what you are going to be getting into, and only a world of pain awaiting you in the future when the 'issues' crop up again, as they surely will.

Personally, if asked to do this I'd give no guarantee's of how it might turn out....
