Car-free and restricted access streets
Certain streets in the historic city centre are car-free or have vehicle restrictions at specific times. There are three (colour) zones, each with specific regulations:
- Orange zone (Steenstraat) is completely car-free between 1.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. every day.
- In the yellow zone (Katelijnestraat with adjacent streets between Ankerplein and Mariastraat to Heilige Geeststraat), car access is restricted between 1.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. every day.
- The streets in the green zone are subject to vehicle restrictions between 1.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday.
I have often recommended this city centre hotel with garage parking - the hotel entrance and the side street entrance to the garage are in the green zone so only restricted on weekends. According to https://www.martinshotels.com/en/pa...ins-brugge-itinerary-constructions.19174.html
"From Monday to Friday, we advise you to take the zuidzandstraat and turn off at St. Saviour's Cathedral to reach the hotel.
On Saturdays and Sundays, this road is a low-traffic zone between 1pm and 6pm. If you use it, you'll need to scan a QR-code at reception to avoid a fine."
I have used the hotel twice, before these restrictions came in. If you are coming in from the E40 from the Dunkirk direction then a satnav should bring in via the route the hotel recommends.
