I just had BT Infinity fitted at the house this morning.

Using wireless:

Ping 21 ms; Download 65.48 Mbps; Upload 9.13 Mbps

Using my Devolo LAN - (through the house mains wiring):

Ping 22 ms; Download 32.46 Mbps; Upload 9.10 Mbps

Anyone know how I might improve the download speed through the Devolo LAN net?

Mike

More info...

Speeds seem to be all over the place, although there seems to be a consistent pattern:

Download speeds consistently low (12-20 Mbps) when using LAN

Upload speeds consistently HIGHER on LAN thanon wireless (12-16 Mbps against 8-9 Mbps on wireless)

Pin consistently longer on LAN (15-41 ms against 7-12 on Wireless)

The Devolo units I have are 200 Mbps PLC Mini Passthrough model HP200PT64BT - both are plugged into extension leads, rather than the wall socket recommended (don't have any option because of the paucity of sockets in my house).

I know I was warned when I first got Broadband that speeds would vary considerably for the first week to ten days and then settle down - anybody know if this is also true of Fibre Optic broadband?

Mike

PS Couldn't believe how quickly those pictures uploaded... :D

Send it back! We're on TalkTalk and get an average 1.48mbps down and .68mbps up

Managed to move some furniture and get each of the units plugged straight into the wall - made a BIG difference.

Latest test (using the LAN)

Ping 21 ms
Down 64.46 Mbps
Up 14.57 Mbps
