On my home tonight I lost all indicators, lights etc.:thedummy Bike still runs fine, but selection of anything electrical puts the generator light on. Just pushing the horn button brings the generator light on as well. I've took the tank off on the side of the road (No-one ran over it luckily- sorry Bumpmuncher I couldn't resist) and had a poke around but to no avail!! I mucked about with the lights switch and the defect disappeared for a few mins before returning. Once home I've had a good fiddle and can find nowt obvious with the conections and wiring. Any Ideas?

Earth's checked ok. I've quit looking for the night as I'm getting a little:mcgun . I'll have more time to play tomorrow after work. It's probably something obvious. At first I was convinced it was the light switch assy as messing with that cured the problem. I think I need a peacefull night with my wiring diagram and a few of these:beer: Maybe the world will be a different place tomorrow. No, scrap that last bit as I'm gonna have to use the train to get to work, bugger!!!!

Whilst doing my rebuild, I came across a similar prob. engine would run but no lights, horn, indi...... get the message. Ended up taking off the newly put on insulstion tape and checking the connectors. ALL LOOKED OK.I then undid them all in turn when one, which had looked ok, was pushed in a bit more suddenly switched everything on. No more probs. It is pretty close to the headstock and could be under a bit of strain. Could be the same with yours.
doesnt explain the generator light though:confused:

It sounds like loose connections in the red, white & black connector blocks mounted on the top tube near the front of the tank.

I pulled mine loose by 'tidying up' the wiring on the bars and lost lights, indicators, horn . . now the two halves are cable-tied together.

Unplug & re-plug them and try again.

Best of luck.

Cheers guys, I'll have another look tomorrow. Thanks for the pointers I'll report back with my findings. It's bound to be summat real stooopid:blast

Doh!!! In the garage tonight and all is well. I have no idea what is/was wrong as I cannot reproduce the fault. I'll have to wait untill that dark rainey night far, far away from home for it to come back.

Well, I've had a tiddy up of the connectors an stuff, I thought I had a problem with the load shed relay. I found nothing wrong with the earth connections. All back together now and another 300km's on the clock with no further problems. S'funny sometimes it's actually better to find something definately broke so you know for sure the problems been fixed. At least it's not Italian or has an electrical system designed an built by the Prince of Darkness himself, Joe Lucas. Close though, the diode board looks as if it was designed for the Stuka dive bomber. It could even come off an Ural, sorry Tarka, I know they have gas lamps fitted.
