Bugger - no more Tourance EXP's

Apparently Metzler have stopped making Tourance EXP’s (now doing Next's) and Micheldever Tyres can’t get hold of any Fronts (to match my not very worn EXP(M) rear). So here are my options, what do you think

Normal Tourance Front £78 (all ride in, ride out prices)
That is the only front tyre they are prepared to put on to match(ish) the EXP rear. The Next's compound is different to the EXP and Metz say don't mix the two.

Or:
Metz Next Pair £235
Conti Trail Attack £189
Mich PR3 trail £245
Mich Anakee 3 £220

I think I might scrap my 2k old EXP rear and go for a pair of Conti’s or maybe Anakee 3’s. you agree?

The new Nexts are great - well there are on my LC, I have no reason to change to anything else.

Just fit a front normal Tourance and stop worrying

When you wear out the EXP rear, you can then fit a normal Tourance rear

You'll have more than adequate grip - wet or dry and you'll get better tyre life than either a Next or EXP

Unless you have the skills of a MotoGP rider...............you'll probably never notice any difference

Absolutely,just go for the standard tourance far better than both the EXP and the NEXT in my opinion.

If it helps I mixed an EXP front with a Conti Trail attack rear with no ill effects on my 1200GS

I know from experience that the original Tourances give enough grip to scrape raised footpegs on an 1150GS during a trackday in October last at Knockhill. It was a cool damp day. I did manage to set the rear sliding exiting the hairpin but it soon gripped again.

Plenty of grip, and even when they are getting to the limit they telegraph it nicely.

If you do go for a new set of tyres don't forget the Dunlop TR91, most under estimated tyre out there and comes top in most reviews ahead of both the Anakee 3 and Tourance Next. One review suggested tyre wear of Next better but depends how you ride the bike.

Otherwise standard Tourance on front should be fine, good tyre.

If your lucky you might be able to get the front from Bahnstormer. It was only done on Friday. Worth a call. Ask for Adam and say Nick pointed you in his direction. Worth a try.

Another option is to buy your own tyres and get them fitted for cash ( I use Russ at Horndean tyres. )

A pair of original Tourances is £155 delivered from Busters/M&P.

And as JB says, if you can outride them you must be a riding god as I've never been able to no matter how hard I've pushed them.

I have tried both and am convinced the only difference is the tyres life. The EXP only lasted about 2/3 the life of a normal Tourance with NO handling difference, and I do push it some times.
A good friend of mine who can out ride most sports bikes on his GS uses normal Tourance tyres also
