Me LoneRider topbox decided to spit the lock out ,luckily I managed to find most of the wafers and springs.Quick message to Nick Marshall(top man, thanks again Nick)and he kindly dispatched 4 springs(which was more than I asked for but just aswell, as the LoneRider springs are longer,2 entwined did the job as 1)
Reassembled and recoaded to my key,put back together and the feckin thing fell out again. After taking it apart,I could see the barrel spinning and depressing the sprung loaded end wafer, causing the barrel to come out.Bugger.
After a bit of head scratching,I drilled a small hole and tried a watch strap spring(bloody handy to have a box of these in various sizes)but no good this time, nail but same result, the wafer kept depressing as it went round.

Tried a tiny screw, perfect fit and done the job.

The lock is firmer/tighter than before.

Love a bodge, even better when it's cost nothing but a kind gesture from a forum member, what it's all really about.

They're really good if you contact LR too. I got a couple of free lock barrels when i had my topbox between 2 Bikes, and wanted the ignition key to work on either bike for the plate & top box.

I did email them but as I bought the box of the forum they couldn't/wouldn't supply a replacement for free.I still await the email with the cost of a new lock and key(thats the only way they sell them)But it's as good,if not better than new, so alls good 👍

Good job, very satisfying when a little job like that works out.

Does the lock wafer only insert one way? Just wondering why it has a square profile on one side and a ramp shape on the other.

Yes,the wafer only goes in one way(it's spring loaded)As you say,bit strange how one side is rounded, allowing it to pass the plastic ramp.I had a really good look under a magnifying glass, and nothing looked amiss or broken,it was all clean.Maybe it was worn on that side(I don't know the history of the box)
Still no reply from LoneRider regards a replacement lock(at my cost)Just as well I went down the bodge route:D

Had a reply from LoneRider, they have sent 2 new locks out. That really is good customer service, considering I bought the box 2nd hand. Will be interesting to see if my lock has worn,if it's the latch then I'll contact them again, see if they'll supply a new latch.
