I know there a a few posts whe folk have had more than their fair share of problems with RTs.

Mine is on 13500 miles and apart from a clutch issue has been great from day one.

Very happy with the bike and its ride.

Canon BMW replaced the clutch at 6k as we were not happy with how it was difficult to get neutral.

Have even washed the bike twice and not noticed any problems with corrosion, apart from a bit of snow, it's out in weathers all year around.

Part exed my two year old 12000 mile RTLC recently, and it looked practically as new.
No problems with corrosion or any other issues. lovely bike.

I wonder why some bikes seem to suffer, and really feel for those who have parted with hard earned cash, only to end up with a lemon.

Mine was great until I really dug into it and got under the panels and around the sump area. The paint was flaking from the FD as well as the heads. So I'm in the "Quality Control" sucks camp, especially as my replacement engine has landed, the bike has been with the dealer 2 weeks, and the replacement engine is DOA, it has a Gearbox output shaft / clutch fault. Won't go into gear, and then when they fixed that, it is not providing drive to the rear wheel.

You genuinely do find there is no middle ground. It's perfect, or a lemon.

This is not a "bashing post" but

GS TC - No Issues
GSA TC - No Issues
GS LC - No Issues
RT LC - All Below replaced under Warranty, bike is a Year old this weekend.

Bar Ends (Paint Flaking)
Clocks (Second set, already changed once)
Engine (Corrosion)
Replacement for the replacement Engine (Replacement DOA)
Rear Arm (Paint flaking)
Final Drive (Paint Flaking and Corrosion)
Rear Wheel (Paint Flaking)
Centre Stand (Corroded)
Heated Seat (Hotspots and uneven heat, or no heat)
Right Side Body Panels (Warped, all right side bodywork replaced)

It's an incredibly efficient bike for my use, vanishing off to work for a week in Scotland, back home the Friday with a weeks worth of gear, but that's being tainted by the build quality issues.

Get a good one, hold onto it, but not outside Warranty.....my Warranty claim is £8.5k's worth.

That's ridiculous. I would be seriously unhappy.

I am unhappy, but I've got the dealer onside, the dealer principle is away at a funeral today, but just took time out to give me a call to arrange a meeting tomorrow to discuss my options. I am not going to spit my dummy out, my teenage daughter causes far more stress than this. So far, being polite but firm is working, unlike the RT :)

RT LC is a fantastic bike, it's just a pity there are so many problems with the finish. One good thing here though is the dealers, I have yet to hear a bad word about one and they can't have it easy bring the buffer between the customers and BMW. One can only hope that BMW learn their lesson from the paint problems and start to get it right. As for switch gears etc, with so many units they are knocking out there are going to be some. Given the number of forum members/watchers, I am sure if there were problems of an epidemic proportion there would be much longer threads.
