I picked up this 89 R100GS about 6 weeks ago and have started work on it, runs ok but had to seal the tank as it had flaking paint. Few thing i changed,

New solo seat and GS/PD rack
Found some 1200 GS hand guards on ADV
LED blinkers
All new cables
new oils and filter
carb kits
fitted a exhaust can
Build new pannier frames
now my luggage from my 1100GS fits.

This is what it was like when i picked it up.

Would like to change the colour to White with a blue frame but that will be when i brace up the frame and fit a 50mm front end, or maybe never. one can only dream.

That's an impressive collection of pannier boxes on the shelf :clap.

The 1100 panniers look good :thumb2.

Bob.

Looks good... out of curiosity, where did you find the rack and seat?

Crap... just looked again and you live on the wrong side of the coin!

I think on that shelf is about 4 of the 12 different styles and sizes of panniers i build.

The seat and rack are from here, very easy to deal with,

www.meyer-bikes.com in Germany

pay the money a postman pay knocks on the door with your seat and rack. You would be supprised how many people riding airheads in Australia buy all there parts and just the normal service gear from places like moto-bins, even after freight, and its only just over a week, it may still be around half the price as buying local here.

Cheers.

2 days from the UK is my record :eek How do they do that?

Best part of a day getting through to the kid at the local parts counter and convincing him that there are motorbikes made before 1995 :blast :D

I am loading up my van and bike and heading to the horizons travelers meeting on friday, its only 50k from my place.
Next year i think it could be down you way somewhere, on the nsw vic border, went to a couple down there a few years back and was a good ride down and back.

Any time your down this way let me know and we'll catch up. I can show you the BM relics in the shed as well as some beaut roads :thumb Might even let you see my pannier collection -all BMW :D

Added a few extras to the luggage i built,

This is closed. Notice the hinges along the bottom, yes there not straight with the pannier but there is a reason for that.

Now remove the lid, clip on the stainless wire straps and your kitchen is ready to make some coffee,

Set up camp in the dark, no worries just turn the kitchen light on, it only draws 500MA so its not going to run the battery down to soon.

its a water proof led made for outside running lights on a boat so should be ok, only fitted it up today and if hasnt been out of the shed as yet. When the fold down table is in the up position its behind that so shouldnt get knocked around.

Ah... yes the LED's should be okay... I thought it was a standard strip light! :blast

Your bike is looking good.

Just bought myself a similar R100GS and I noticed you have changed the cyclinder heads for the older style part. Were did you get them from and how much where they?

Thanks
