Bullet cam....opinions anyone????

Consider this

Following someone else's 'in-the-know'advice, I opted for this.
Brilliant- No tapes as it uses a 8GB card (about 7hours filming!)
The solid state camera fits inside an extended a battery pack (claimed up to 8 hours filming)

Very lightweight (camera and extended batt pack= 210 grams!!)

Camera fits inside the extended (extra-option) battery pack and in total measures approx 3.5 X 2.1/4 and is 1.5 " tall

3 sucker mounts stick on to anything plastic/metallic Schiannini had it mounted on the beak of his 1150 and me on roof of Toyota

No need for complications - Fits in minutes :thumb2 -
Easy to set up and you can do the start filming with just one button- Goes from power up- initialise to record in one button press:thumb2 and comes with a remote control.
Each time you start and stop filming, it creates a single and separate file- ready to upload on PC/anywhere. No faffing around.

The only glitch I experienced was an intermittent charger fault - (loose wire)- else excellent kit for filming and one I can recommend.
I now have a 12 volt charger for the bike as well as a mains one-

Awesome quality:thumb2
Available here
(sorry MikeP :D - works right out of the box and can set it up in minutes)

and another advantage is that all the kit can fit in your pocket- security wise, one less big bag to have/carry around/worry about

No need to apologise Bert, it's your choice.

As with all such things, it comes down to being it for purpose and then personal choice.

So far I haven't seen any digital media that competes with tape for recording quality. I'm not saying that it doesn't exist.

Yep. With the LANC I can switch the camera between stand-by, record and off - remotely.

With another switch I can select which camera view I'm using.

There are alternatives to camcorder and bullet-cam set-ups. I'm well aware of that. The disadvantages of many (for me) ruled them out. The main one being the availability to use the camcorder in a variety of other ways.

Yup tapes but

Tapes can and some do offer higher resolution but then again do we ever need it? yes it is individual choice but- although your set up looks impressive, it's big! and it's another bag to worry about when travelling.

Here is the spec of the cam I use

Can be bettered of course but not without huge ££ investement
Recorder spec here

I can use the recorder's own screen for playback or switch the card to my Nikon Coolpix S6 which has a larger screen as they take the same memory card. Small and just brilliant! (just like me hahahahah! :D )

yes it is individual choice
Yes Bert, it is.
but- although your set up looks impressive, it's big!
Well size is relative. Most things must look a little large to some! :augie
and it's another bag to worry about when travelling.
Hmm. As I always use a tank-bag when travelling and I carry stills camera, iPod, mobile phone etc. just how much space does a Sony Handycam take-up?

Small and annoying! (just like me hahahahah! :D )
Fixed! :augie

I think people are all abit hung up about the technology when really they should be thinking about content and quality.

but then what the heck do I know....:augie

PS there's a mis-match between the recorder and camera recorder 640x480 and camera 752x582 or whatever that said whcih won't help:augie

Chris,
I'm very pleased with it. Some minor glitches at first and the end results are good enough.
Thanks for the feedback Mike. As you say, once I get the kit it's going to take some time to sort it out so I'd better get my wallet out soon

Chris

I have the same setup but with the Archos AV500.

It is excellent, and the button on the cable to start and stop recording is the a real benefit, everything is powered from the system.

I have the system where you use a video camera and batteries etc and the Archos beats it for usability hands down.

I put the whole thing in one of the bar pouches from Hein Gericke....

My Archos AV500 stops recording sometimes i think it maybe because i dont have it plugged in with the battery supply via cigarette adapter i dont know why i bought it i never even used it.
