Bullet Cams - How did Charley and Simon do it?

that's good I'll take a picture of my setup and will post it later.

The discussion seems to revolve around the recording system rather than the camera and location/fixing.

What do you use?

the mounts they used where made from plastic to raise the camera up and they had a velcro cross ontop of the helmets with another velcro loop near the back to help cahnnel the cables down.

the camera needs to be raised by about the size of a matchbox to stop vignette. (cut off) Also you get a better angle if you have this spacer. will try to photograph the setup we developed but have been very busy with work.

After my trip this weekend to Corsica I''m going to look at moving the front one further up. Maybe behind the grill with a small cutout for the lens.

I have got my Front camera mounted on the BTBR and Migsel bar light setup

I used it last year when SBW did a trip to Le Touquet and it seem to work fine.

The attraction of helmet mounting to me is the better panorama, and the ability to 'look and shoot'!

Mark, with it mounted on the Migsel Bar, do you get much vibration?

Agreed, I can plug my 3rd camera in very quickly, that's helmet mounted. I wish there was a three way switch!:D

No, it seems to be ok.

the only down side is you get the corner of the beak in the shot, but i can put up with that!!

I've just got in from playing with a couple of different bike mounting locations.

My first attempt (a week ago) was just sticking a DogCam mount to the tank. It worked really well but I don't think that it would be any good when the tank panniers are in place.

Today I tried a Ram-arm using one of the Ram-ball mounts on the engine bars. I've used a stills camera on that with some success in the past but looking back through the footage, there's quite a lot of vibration at certain Rev's. Only to be expected really.

I may try a shorter Ram-arm that I have to see if that reduces the vibes.

Next I mounted the bike camera to one of the Tobinator brackets. The vibes are gone but road bumps are transmitted to the picture. Not too badly but certainly more noticeably than with the rubber suction mount of the DogCam mount.

This solution is much better for getting the camera angle set-up. The DogCam mount is very fiddly by comparison.

The best helmet solution I have, is still the DogCam mount.

It can easily be tweaked to raise or lower the view.

I've mounted the switch (for the camera selection) on the outside of the tank-bag.

The LANC goes in the clear pocket on the top of the bag and the camera inside with power-packs etc.

I'm still experimenting to find the best bike position but I'm happy with the helmet camera.
