Bumblebee ripe for a restoration.......let's go go go

Bought it direct from BMW they are once again available direct...yeah baby!

Fuck me Florry .... this is all coming together better than new :thumb

:beerjug:

Yes Micky, it will be a lovely bike when it's finished......not long now come on Tunner I'm getting excited :bounce1
A professional paint job makes such a difference and these things can't be rushed :D
Thanks for all the positive comments it makes me very happy :thumby:

....bung 'em in the F S & W section....in the meantime....I need a single seat and rack !! :D

What to go on? I've got a barely used Siebenrock/Motobins seat & rack that I bought for the Kalahari. The rack doesn't fit with the G/S subframe tho, as the Basic one is slightly different.

What's the left hand fork slider from? Looks OE but Ihave no idea.

Get them to North Berwick by Monday morning and I'll take them down in the car.

Bugger! A couple of months too soon! The refurb starts in the summer when I put my RT back on the road. Ta for the kind offer though John.

It's R100gs standard fork slider with no modifications what so ever.

I didn't know that they had ever made a twin disc version. The disc mounting bolts look a tad short to me.

They didn't, if you look closely it seems to be mounted by clamping a ring around the fork leg at the top, then down to the wheel spindle spacer, which it replaces, a bit like rear disc caliper are mounted

A masterpiece, hope you can at least break even on it after investing so much. :)

Yes, I did work it out eventually. Probably OK in a 'push' situation (behind the fork leg or like the the rear disc). Bolts still look short to me.

The bolts are short, 4 new ones on the way. I quite like this twin disc set up, at a glance it looks like a standard twin disc front end. I recall that Mat said this was a prototype and the only one, seem to think he had it made by a (local to him) guy. :nenau has anyone seen this set up before?

I know you can buy pattern cables half the price of genuine BMW but really the difference is clear and they last much much longer :thumb

Actually I'd beg to differ on that!

Before riding to Istanbul I replaced all of the cables on my bike with genuine BMW. We then had five days of torrential rain - by the time we arrived in Romania my throttle cables had rusted so badly the throttle would barely turn, fortunately I had a spare set of venhills that I swapped out, these lasted another five years.

Not much leeway in the brake bolt length , miss out the washer under the bolt head and the bolt can touch the disk ------------.

Well, it's alive! Got the carbs all cabled up and temporarily wired ignition ( waiting for paint ) put a different tank on, hit the start button and..........yippee started right up :bounce1
The downside is the rear shock is leaking under load so it's a new one going on and another £250-300 :blast whoever gets this bike will have a real nice bike that should not need anything spending on it for a long time. :thumb2
I'm having a ride over to Kent tomorrow to collect the new paintwork and hopefully another rear shocker then I will get some more photos posted up....thanks for all the positive comments :beerjug:
