Bumblebee ripe for a restoration.......let's go go go

I'm in.....Love this stuff...:)

AND....Thanks for the 'Dave the vapour blaster' link.....Bridlington and Good confused me....:D

Crack on Flo'.....:thumb2

Threads like this and Mikeyboys and Min's rebuild last year make up for all the shite posted elsewhere. That work on the wheels looks like a great job and great value. Can't wait to see inside the gearbox (sad, I know).

The gearbox went off to the legendary Mikeyboy to work his magic! :bow
Hopefully this is where he will insert some photos......... Mike are you there :D

Some of us have to work for a living you know, not jetsetting around Europe buying exotic motorcycles:blast
The gearbox,hmmmmm
Firstly I don't normally strip them like this!
Somebody had been there before
The output flange was so tight that my removal tool wouldn't budge it,
I have never failed before
so plan b strip the box and press the flange off in my 20 ton press:thumb
Fail:eek:
I resorted to cutting the output shaft in half as I have loads of them and really didn't want to damage the kickstart end cover

As you can see from this picture the front output shaft bearing cage was about ready to fail,
When this happens, the primary drive gears can slip out of mesh, which scraps the gears and can also crack the rear cover:comfort
Fookin expensive :P

In addition to this little lot the kick start shaft was also bent,
I was unable to straighten the thing but luckily had a decent one in my cashe of parts,:thumby:
I'll try and remember to get a photo of the drive flange tomorrow ,
I was so nervous when I had it in the press I strapped a sheet of steel plate in front of it in case something broke and it flew out,20 tons and it didn't budge,
I have NEVER used that much force on anything :D

Thanks Mike, I can now carry on with some more photos.....

Lovely, good as new......No....better than new gearbox :thumby:

So I get the frame back from powder coating and all the other bits a pieces and we're ready to put it all back together. New stainless nuts and bolts, new switch gear, grips, cables, rubber bits, in fact pretty much all the lot! In fact the only thing I didn't buy new was the rear silencer. I found a genuine bmw stainless one in Germany that was in nice condition. I didn't want to put a none genuine one on and a new BMW one is £650
The front pipes are stainless and in nice condition and I put a new BMW collector box on. No awful y piece here Rob :augie
enough talking more photos ( I bet you lot don't even read all this shite anyway )

I think those marks on the casing are from Mikeyboy :augie

Something's I've just cleaned up like the rear footrests and hangers, I would have gone mad and bought everything brand new but I'm not keeping it and I hope whoever buys it will use it and enjoy it for what it is

Once the engine was back in the frame I took the barrels off and changed the rings, new stainless pushrods and seals and back together. I know it probably easier to do all this on the work bench but if you've been in my garage you will know there is no room on the bench ever :blast

I can't decide which rocker covers to use but I think I'm going wth these ones?

Shit I'm fecking this thread up as it's not really in any order :augie
Here are a few photos of the frame....note the lovely new stickers from our very own mr Rob Farmer :clap

A few more of the frame, the centre stand I bought new from moto bins I think? It was a bargain at £30 odd pounds brand new!

Thanks fellas that means a lot :P

and before any of you spot that mark on the rear subframe no it's not rust it's a bit of copper slip! I use the copper slip in an aerosol and I like it but it gets every fecking where.
