Got Vista home premium , and last night wanted to burn a cd for the wife ........I used Windows , put the cd in , and selected burn ......... it did it , but the CD will only play on the computer ?

Advice please .......... don't have any other software on the computer to burn cd's .

If the cd is not closed when you finish burning a lot of players, etc won't be able to read it. With a pc, you can leave it open to burn more data to at a later date. The operating system will understand this and read whats already on there. Everything else expects it to be closed. There will be some setting in Vista to close after burning or you can choose 'disc at once' burning which will close automatically.

yep... exactly what GSwadd said! Thats the problem..

I find the windows burning tool lacks alot of selectable function... I would get yourself a CD/DVD burning program like Nero or Roxio.

some older CD players struggle with home recorded CDs. Have you checked on several machines.

I have checked - I've also been online to look at how to use WMP in Vista , and it seems to me that I didn't do it the way they say it should be done - so tonight , I'm gonna try [ in my own dinosaur fashion :augie:augie] it again .

Thanks for the help guys
