About 250ml per 1000 miles is nothing unusual,but some won`t use any at all.
20w50 (mineral) oil will lessen oil consumption on a high mileage bike.

Just done 3100 miles on my R11RT in France/Spain in high 30'sC and some extended 700mile m/way runs (heat v distance and the necessity to keep moving to stay coolish) and mine used about 600ml in that tour..............so I guess well within tolerance for a 28000 mile 14 year old bike

I was having a chat the other week with my local BMW dealer and they reckoned that BMW is happy with anything upto 1litre per 1000miles. Not sure if that is completely true or not.

My mates new 09 Audi can only manage 600 miles per litre, Audi say that acceptable .........!
I wouldnt worry too much if is not smoking

just come back from europe and used about half a lt of oil, so yes its ok that yours is too
