The above is the result of a remus Y piece and standard can for 15months/15,000 miles

A M8 is Gonna tackle this little welding job on Saturday. He will be using a MIG welder. The bike is non servo non ABS. I was wondering how much electrical gubbins to disconnect. I thought i'd be ok with battery disconnection only. Billy56 has suggested ECU. Anything else I should disconnect from the electrical system in case it gets fried?

I was also thinking of strengthening the bracket by getting him to weld larger side plates onto the captive nut??

Any advice/observations would be greatfully accepted. Ta :)

Many thanks

from the photos, it looks like you were missing the other bracket that fixes the OE silencer to the footrest mount bolts. that would explain why the top mount broke.

Disconnect everything electrical you can(except the freezer cos the food will go off)and cover everything else to stop the spatter burning things.

and the manual (published 2001 i think?) Looks like this......more robust and sensible I'd say. Is this a Bwm down grade?

Looks like there are a set of mounting holes missing on my can?

What year is your r1150gs Bronco Billy?

it's a little vague here but it would apear that even though part no's were changed at times, they all had the "compensating plate"

has your silencer got the lower mounting holes. i expect it has, that OE silencer weighs a ton.

enter the exact details for your bike & it may become clearer.

Cheers Cookie, A down grade appears to be the answer. I took the cover off the can. The straping is on the can as it is on yours but its not tapped to take the mount and the slieve is minus a couple of holes. Your system would be much more robust. What a dopey thing to do!!! Many thanks for your help. :thumb
