How shite is the surface on the first few proper corners on the way up now. Absolutely fekkin' horrendous...I've never seen anything as bad, ever ....but to have it that bad on some very serious bends is unforgivable. You can see it in the light but even then its much worse than you anticipate, hit them in the dark and you are in big big trouble.

Nice to see that the councils solution is to put up a couple of signs saying "uneven surface"...no shit sherlock :blast

It's cheaper than speed bumps.

Its been like that for ages, I doubt they're in a rush to provide the surface it needs. Thankfully I don't go that way often.

It was bad 2 months ago, now its beyond bad. Its deteriorated so much they couldcover it in lard and run the winter olympics mogul skiing event on it..........

And i'm not coming from a motorcyclists point of view either, I was in the car. Any worse and you'll need to be driving something with catarpillar tracks.

I last rode it in January, led some mates over it on the way back from a funeral in Warrington.

Got zapped for 57 mph on it, bastids!

Fortunately, I'm doing a Speed Awareness course instead of getting points, so it's not all bad!

Seems someone on the council may be a UKGSer 'cos when I drove over on Wednesday they were 1/2 way through sorting out the worst corners:clap

Never seen anything about the Cat'n Fiddle to commend it ....

Yup, the early sections looked better this morning coming from Buxton way.

i rode the cat and fiddle a couple of years ago, just to see what it was about.
it was raining , as i came towards buxton there was a van in a field, i stopped and got off the bike ...and nearly fell over because the surface was so slippery! the stone in the tarmac were proud of the tarmac itself, i had not had a slide on the bike , but walking on it was harder than walking on ice . i decided that it was not a good place to be , but if a van being driven by an old bloke could crash , how easy it would be on a bike ? not going there again if its wet .
