hey all

Im looking to buy my first 1100GS in the next few weeks. Iv got my eye on a few with about 50k on the clock.

I know the clutches have a 20-30k life but im a mechanic so have no issues with changing a diaphram clutch and can get the parts at trade ;) Iv priced that job up at about £150 and a long weekend of tea drinking

Also, I know the pre 1998 have week gearbox seals or something ??

Plus lose spokes can cause major issues with the odd BMW rim design.

So, any other known niggles and glitches for me to cast my monicle over before I go and inspect one ??

Many thanks in advance.

Ted

Clutch life depends on the user. Can get 100K miles plus out of one.
1997 models have a very dodgy box.
Make sure there is no play in the rear wheel/paralever bearings.
If ABS fitted, make sure it works(no flashing lights in dash).
Apply usual checks as for any bike.
