Buying a used 1150GS

Looking to get back into biking and buying a 2001 Y 1150 GS from a dealer. Can anyone think of anything specific to check for?
Its on for £5795 with 17k on the clock. He says it has fsh with some goodies like luggage, remus can.

Any hints would be appreciated.

It's nearly run in. Haggle, buy. At 17K it's nearly due for a service. Ask for the 18K and annual services as part of the deal?

Is it the graphitan one in M&S? He's had it for a few weeks now, should be open to an offer... Good luck!

I have just bought a 2001 1150GS in Graphitan with a red seat. ABS and heated grips are a nice extra to have. Check for corrosion. The front fork braces suffer and around the front engine bolts. Check the condition of the wheels as bad corrosion would suggest previous owners have not regularly cleaned the bike.

I know on here cleaning could be interpreted as swearing.

The one I bought was up for £5900 and I part exed an Africa twin with £2300.
Mine has abs and heated grips, FBMWSH and immobiliser. 21k on the clock and in very good nick.

Check condition of tyres and if they are low get the dealer to put some new rubber on for you. Also check under the seat for the tools and puncture repair kit. All these little thing can tell you a lot about how the bike has generally been cared for.

Cheers for the info. The bikes gone and am I gutted. The hunt continues. Nearest I can find for my budget is an 1100 with similar mileage.

Skybluebird-It wasnt that one, I wil have a look in M&S tomorrow.
