Looking at buying a wireless printer for the home. It appears that in Dublin its either HP or Epson. They both appear very close in price and features. Any comments about ink cartridge costs etc etc ? Thanks.

Hi Luke,

Just bought a Epson SX535WD from PC world for £68 in the sale was £140 ish, it was a bit of a git to set up but got there in the end.

Just ordered 10 ink cartridges from ebay for £15, two full sets of four + 2 blacks.:)

Tescos are doing canon mp499's for 37 quid. Total bastard to set up on a mac, but now shared amongst 2 macs 2 iPads.

Have you printed any photo's with it and if so what was the quality like?
Did you set it up with a MAC or a Windows PC?

Try Samsung

Samsung do a colour wireless laser printer.
On amazon at £103.99
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-CLP...GLXA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1325270131&sr=8-1

I have had one for 2 years. Excellent, expecially when you send to Canada for a chip to bypass the cartridge monitors, and can then refill them for almost nothing.

You will almost certainly have to phone the Samsung Helpline to get the wireless section working, because it is a bitch to set up, but, with their help, it is normally running in under 5 mins at no charge.
Myke

have an epson 720wd, cartridges are the cheapest you can get from ebay - full pack of 6 for about £6.

very good photo printing - its been reviewed in a few photo mags.

remote printing and scanning etc, fast document scanning also.

took 5 mins to set up and straight forward, when it dies ill buy another epson without a second thought

Have a Canon MP560, like it a lot, does double sided and has a paper tray underneath, pictures are also very good. Paid 150 a couple of years ago from Comet but similar are now 70ish.

what are you wanting to print from? if from Ipad or Iphone you want to make sure its a compatable phone

Why go for a wireless printer?. They tend to be a bit hit or miss when setting up. I went a different way, Bought an HP printer with an ethernet port on it ( C6280 i seem to think). Simply connect to your router via an ethernet cable (the yellow one) SIMPLES.:beerjug:

No not printed any photos yet and I set it up on a PC. The printer did not come with a USB cable so I ordered one from eBay £1.30 I have the desk top connected by the USB lead and the laptops via wifi.
