Off to Berlin next week. Does anyone know if parts and clothing are any cheaper in Berlin. Need some Vario cases, bags and possibly engine bars / cylinder covers.

Any advice appreciated.

With the strength of the pound against the euro at the moment, you'll probably do well over there.

Have you booked a tour of the factory? I did it last year and it was brilliant. Lasted over three hours and saw GS production from start to finish. If it's not too late get on to their website and see if you can book a place.:beerjug:

I got my Vario cases here

Delivered in a couple of days :thumby:

If you're getting a new bike try asking your dealer to match the best price you get. Mine couldn't/wouldn't but coded the locks for me anyway

Clothing wise I've used these to buy my Rukka stuff

There's also FC moto- I've used them on a couple of occasions for Daytona boots and for my Q3 and they were very good too.

Delivered in a couple of days in all cases by UPS - far better than DHL :thumby:

UK wise I use Nippy but have ALSO bought SW Motech engine bars from Infinity at the show

Called in at these guys last year and picked up some bit's for the RT at a good price, be even better now that the euro is on it's arse
Hardly on its arse. Today's rate is 1.36 compared with 1.75 back in 2000.

Big Rob - I tried to book a tour but they said only doing German Speaking Tours and would not let us go as we don't speak German. In Berlin for 3 days next week and I was quite annoyed when they suggested I visited the Dealer in Berlin instead. 4 BMW Bikes bought in past 7 years didn't mean anything to them either. Very Disappointing.

Littleade - I looked at buying boxes, bags and bars from BMW-Motorrad-store.co.uk considerably cheaper than dealer, however dealer said I would need to pay vat in uk, no warranty and boxes would likely be damaged on arrival. I am guessing this was not your experience.

If tax is paid in Germany, no VAT on UK arrival as all members in EU, unless mistaken !! Your dealer might have been looks after himself with a couple of white lies ....

Dealer was talking bollocks :) I bought my old GSA Top Box from them, Luggage Grid and have had other things for bikes, never an issue, and as Mongolian Explorer says you pay MWST (German VAT) So no VAT Chargeable in UK.

Dealer talk with forked tongue kimosabe..... As above if you pay the German VAT there's nothing to pay here, that's EU law. They were very well packaged- thick boxes with the cases wrapped in bubble wrap and when I asked about the warranty the German dealer said BMW warranty is 2 years worldwide. Depending which option you choose you can get them with either the codeable locks or just normal ones. You can get the same with the topbox and you'd also need the mounting plate which you can get with the topbox. As before UPS were excellent and they were here in less than a week.

Well, that's bollox.
Imagine driving 2 miles over the border from N.I. into Ireland and buying a bacon roll and a copy of Razzle.
VAT payable on returning over the border......I think not.

bought mine from Germany online too. Very fast delivery, well packaged, and much much cheaper too.
