I know this will depend on a number of factors, but hypothetically.......

1200GS for sale in dealers (Non BMW Dealer) for sale at £7,650. The bike looks right for me and I have cash. What do you think I can expect to get the bike for for a cash deal?

I could go in with a stupid offer, but don't like to offend.... just wondered what typical mark up may be on something like this and what i could expect to save.

Would an offer of £7K be insuting?

Ta

A dealer will have no qualms about insulting you when you sell a vehicle, in fact it has to be done in order to establish a base.
Hit him with 7K. He has the option to suck his teeth or laugh, probably the latter. Tell him it's hard cash and he'll be thinking about closing a deal whilst pretending you're on a totally different page to him.

Remember, it's a base point. Whatever it is worth to you , come in at £500 below. The market is full of these bikes and he will know you don't have to have his.

Try not to pay what it's worth to you but below that figure. He will be happy to haggle but be prepared to walk away whilst leaving your contact number for him to chew on your best offer.

I am looking at bikes too and all the showrooms are dead quiet right now. The market belongs to you, not the dealer right now. :thumb2

Forget about offending him, offer £6k and see what happens. He can only say no ?
With all the other big ADV bikes now out, GSs are going to be a little harder to shift and he won't have paid anything like £7650.
What year is it ? I'd be tempted to go a little higher if it is an 07/57 vintage as the below seems good money...

Hang on month and keep an eye on Triumph dealers. Word is that there are quite a few trying to pass GS/GSA onto BMW dealers with not much joy as BM people are full of unsold GS stock already.

Swapped my 59 plate 1200gs mu for a new 1200gs tu last September.

Eight month's later my old bike is still in the main dealer showroom.

Make them a cheeky but not stupid offer, the worst they can do is say no.

Steve.

wait till near the end of the month... sales figures are sales figures after all...:augie

There should be enough slack in the dealer's price - to allow you to actually get the bike for £7k.

I would make that your upper limit, but offer £6,700 initially.

And - see what accessories he will throw in - to sweeten the deal once price is looking to be agreed.

Use the fact that it is not a BMW dealer (no bmw wtty which costs around £300 per year)as a bartering factor, as well as the usual stuff.
