Hi guys,

Time is going fast and I will be looking for GSA.
I know there is lot of issues with new LC GSes... Can you guys tell me if anything changed for better through last two years ?

Initially I was thinking about used GSA LC (maybe ex-demo).
After reading this forum and also advrider, I'm confused or maybe I should say, I'm not sure....

All the issues with new GSA took me to the point where I'm now more after latest models of oil/air cooled GSA...

Any suggestions?

Also in the terms of buying, does it matter to which dealer I will go or all are the same ?

Hi Marcing,
These bikes do not have lots of issues, however riders do tend to use forums to discus issues and problems, and to vent their spleen from time to time, so if you are gathering all your negativity from here your findings may be a bit unbalanced.
These are great bikes and the GSA-LC is just superb. Get it bought, and getting a nice used bike is very sensible and will save you the initial losses that occur as you ride a new bike out of the showroom, which can be quite considerable.
Remember that BMW give a 2 year warranty regardless of how many owners the bike has had, so if you get a bike that is 5/6 months old you will be fully covered to ride anywhere in Europe fully covered for breakdown including repatriation to the UK for 18 months, and the savings that you make by buying a newish used bike will probably pay for two of those European trips. :beerjug:

Totally agree. I have just bought a 2014 low mileage GSA LC having come from a 2011 GSA TC and it is superb. No other words for it.

Just got back from riding my June 2014 GSA - only done 9,000 miles to date but not a single problem so far ;)

If you buy second hand you can at least test ride the actual bike you are looking to buy, any teething problems should have been sorted and you can buy the faster classic green one which they now no longer make :D

So where all these problems coming from ? If you look at advrider.com there is over 100 pages discussion about the problems

........and some of the people posting may even actually own one ;)

Internet has a habit of blowing things out of proportion. If you are worried about such things then buy a nice Honda :aidan

I had a new engine / gearbox at about 6K plus throttle body. having said that I would not swap out for a different bike they are fantastic all-rounders BMW will always sort so buy one with a years warranty left - you'll not regret it -ve comments must be balanced with the numbers sold & BMW riders pernickety standards - gearbox can be a bit crapo though so make sure you ride before buying

Had my GSA a year, it's covered about 5,000 miles and not a single issue, I love it :arselick:

Imo the money you spend on a good lc is pointless a well looked after Tc 12/13 plate is as good if not better than an lc and you save £££

The LC GSA is a great bike. I've had a 1200 in each of the TC models. Although, I have been very satisfied with each of these, in my view, the LC which i now have (2015) is the better machine.

IMO Tc for those who aspire to owning but just cant make it - spend their time bitching about what toys they cant have. good bike in its own rite - not a patch on an LC TE

Some statistical bollocks to consider.... The GS is the best selling bike in the over 500cc category, so 'cause there's more of them about this probably makes things seem worse than other lesser (popular) bikes.

At least I hope so as I got mine on Friday

It's not a patch on the LC (jeez, the 1150GS Luddites will be along in a minute), apart from the gearbox and heated grips in my experience - the LC is faster, better handling and quite simply more fun to ride :beerjug:

Agree but is it worth 4-6k more I sit on the fence on that one

:agree Loved my 2013 TC triple black & thought it couldn't get much better but my 2016 spec GSA LC TE is on another level.
