Hi guys this is my first post, so a big hello and hopefully ye can help alay some fears that are being put in me before I look at a r1200gs 07reg.
It's a nice low miles bike with a adv fuel tank.

My question why put a Adv tank on it ... Could it be crashed??
And the father in law is saying that the 1200 has drive shaft and gearbox problems, so lads I'm love'n the taught of owning this bike so can some lay my fears to rest.

Thx Mark

To get more than 160 off a tank before hitting reserve....
Obvious.
But if in doubt, do a check online, on the reg. Costs peanuts and puts your mind at ease.

Got any pics?

Good luck, and welcome. There are some good tossers on here...

I know of a few people that put ADV tanks on their regular GSs to get the extra tank range or for the look, but didn't want or couldn't managed the taller seat height of the ADV.

I wouldn't worry. If it was crashed a standard tank would be cheaper to get.

+ 1
And very few problems with engines or gearboxes............... or drive shafts....

Thx very much for the replies, it would look like I think that I'm about to become a TOSSER, yer going to have explain what that came from and it's meaning.

I have an Adv and yes the std seat is a bit high so I put on a GS seat which on high setting is about the same as the GSA seat set on low. 20mm makes a big difference. The big tank is great.

Check the paint on the engine front casing and the wheels esp around the back wheel bolts. If its bubbling the alloy underneath will be furring A LOT and it will need to be stripped and powder coated ASAP. The paint is uber tough, but once it gets pin-holed, corrosion goes rampant underneath.

Thx very much for that bit of info Bendy.
