Hi all,

Well I'm afraid I did a stupid thing - I test drove the 1200 LC. Having been a very, very happy 650 owner for 5 years, I started to lust after more power and fancier toys. The 650 is the best bike I have ever owned and for 1-up touring/commuting/fun/light off-road, I honestly don't think there is a bike in the world to touch it. OK the F800 has a bit more grunt when you get up the rev range but the fuel economy on the 650 makes up for that in my opinion :)

However, since a good bit of my biking involves loading up with the missus, lots of luggage and doing big motorway miles, I decided that I needed the right tool for the job, and the 1200 LC is an incredible bit of kit which fits the bill for me.

Anyway I just wanted to add an opinion to the board showing complete user satisfaction. I did 31,000 miles on my bike - it sold with the same chain I bought it with, was on its 3rd back tire, never drank oil, never broke down, returned massive MPG, and put a smile on my face every single time I looked at it, let alone rode it.

I have some bits and bobs from it to sell so watch out in the sale section:

- Touratech side stand foot
- Givi engine bars
- SW Motech rack
- Zumo 500

etc.

Hope the LC lives up to expectations as my cherished F650 set the bar VERY high!!

(PS here's a pic of new bike for those unoffended by boxer-porn: linky)

F650GS to Triple Black GSA a few weeks ago.

Both are extremely capable bikes but chalk and cheese

Of course the 1200 is the better bike and so it should be at nearly twice the price. Whether or not it's the better bike to own is down to individual taste and requirements.

As long as you stay with the marque, that's all that matters.
