Alan all the best my friend I’m in my seventies but for the life of me I can’t give the bike up it’s been a link through the years to some great times and friends, some no longer here. Guys you might think I’m crazy but sometimes I talk to them when riding especially the ones who are gone, the joys of being a lone rider if you can call it that.

It a big step to retiring from biking, your decision must have been difficult. Enjoy whatever you intend to do to replace your riding.

I am a bit like you but have only been riding 50 years. I hope to have a few more years left. Its a decision I am not looking forward to.

Its people like you that keep motorcycling alive when it was unfashionable and the bikes on sale were pretty naff in hind sight.

55 years biking here, and each year the bike gets heavier. I think perhaps I should get something lighter, easier to park. But every time I ride the the GS it is so damn good, does so much so well. So it stays and I keep riding all year. But I know sooner or later I will have to make that decision, or have it made for me, and I dread it!

It's not a problem .... I couldn't manage the 1150 and 1200's any more, so got an 800GS. Now at 133,000 miles it's still as good as the day it left the factory, and does everything as well as any 1150 or 1200 does :D

Got a G650Xcountry waiting in the wings :thumb

Sorry Zoltan, I used a BMW jacket and various non-BMW trousers like Draggin jeans or Arlen Ness trousers depending on the weather.
The bike is going into BMW Ocean complete with engine bars, lights, Givi topbox, Nortek front and rear traffic cameras, Akrapovic can etc. so no gear for sale.

That's a fair innings on 2 wheels, may I wish you a long and happy retirement.
 
I’m older than Micky......:eek: .But only by a few months .:D

I’d like to echo what every body else has said, and wish you a very happy and healthy retirement. If I might make a suggestion, don’t give your gear away just yet, you just might fancy a lighter bike or even a scooter later, so don’t burn your bridges......:beerjug:
