I was passing through (well stuck in the snow) Broxburn today and noticed that C&J Wilsons were having a "retirment sale".

After 35 years selling motorcycles, C&J Wilsons have decided to call it a day. I'm sure many of you from the Edinburgh area, especially the "old timers", know of C&J's, and have possibly used them for MOT's and tyres over the years.

Apparently, the shop will be closing on the 24th December.

Another decent dealer disaapears from the scene.:(

I've bought a number of bikes from Craig and John over the years and have always found their service to be second to none. Nothing was too much bother, honest as the day is long, happy to just chat about bikes, no pressure, no bullshit.

I really don't know what else to say other than I will be sorry to see them go, as in my experience there are precious few like them around.

A long and happy retirement to you chaps! :thumb2

That's sad

bought my first bike from them in 1991. Good bunch of guys to deal with and I kept meaning to pop back in when I was through that way.

used to get my mot's done there, good bunch of guys:thumb2

mmmm, wonder who'll be taking on kawasaki for embra then? :augie:augie

Retirement

Yes John and Craig will be missed , not many shops like their one left
but at least john will have time to tone his golf skills

I wish them well :beerjug:

What a shame, a proper bike dealer - bought my tyres there, got MOTs and a bit of Autocom work.

Yes it will be a shame to see Wilson's closing. I have used the shop for 25 years, bought several motorcycles from them. I was in the shop yesterday speaking to John, Craig is on holiday in the States, everything is to be sold at cost price so there are lots of bargains to be had. John also said him and Craig have 2 on-line businesses dealing with motorcycle spares and accessories and are hoping to open an MOT station and Workshop in the near future.

Good Luck to John & Craig in the future. :thumb :beerjug:

That wouldn't be George Whyte's (Onward Transport) son by any chance?

That's a shame.

I get MOTs and tyres there plus any other bits an pieces I'm needing.

Always good service and honest as the day is long.

Happy retirement guys.

Bob.

Excellent, so the comment on retirement from retail is exactly that. I suspect I might miss then for my RS' next MOT in April, but I'll be back to them after.

Cheers for the update

Alistair.

Help Please!!!!!!!!

Evening Folks!!

I came across this forum while doing a search for information on C&J Wilson in Uphall. I have used them for a number of years for service and MOT on my bike and am gutted they have closed. I noticed this before as the shop is now sadly a pharmacy!! The reason I post is I read that a member thought they would be opening a service and MOT centre which I would be very keen to know where and contact details if anybody had them. There is few people of the knowledge and good honest customer service these days and I would much rather give me money to someone I know will look after my bike as should be. Any information would be most welcome, thanks in advance for any info.

However, it looks like they're only an on-line accessory shop at the moment.
