Ebay is a dangerous thing!! always makeing me search out things to reduce my bank balance haha. This just popped up which i like the look of, interesting custom bikes always make the garage cool. This is very neiche though an not a daily rider, its on auction so the bin price might (£6,450) be just optimism but whats people general thought on something like this?

Nice tank and seat unit, I also like the minimalist look.

The clip ons suggest cafe racer, the nobblies suggest scrambler, for me it has an identity crisis and needs road tyres.

I have no doubt that the price asked reflects the build cost, but specials rarely sell well. I’d price it a good couple of £k less

The UK seemed to go thru a spell of folk making these sorts of bikes out of old airheads, no idea how many are actually any good for riding. I agree with Paul, even the ad hints at an ID crisis....IMHO that's maybe one to leave in the bikeshed display corner. It may well ride OK or....
I'd far rather a bog standard r80 or r100. Personal choice obviously.

I was exactly the same thinking with regards tyres, i think a couple of sporty road tyres would set that off nice. Yeah the custom work looks clean i like the engine framing look bit like my harley brings the eye to the main feature. I was thinking up around the 4k max but its all about how much someone is willing to pay, its very much a now and then use bike

Yeah original has its place up messed with but i do like walking up to a bike that looks nothing like any other bike, im also a fettler so if it rode like a pig gives me something to set up, im always tinkering in the garage saying that for that price theres alot of other bikes of equal intrest out there for sale.

I wouldnt want to build a custom bike from scratch can only.imagine the time and cost someone has put into it, im happy just to ride them

It seems that you have the same dreamers we get on my side of the channel ...
The tank is a Bultaco replica from India, same origin for the seat, the rear shock is surely from Aliexpress or similar, the exhaust is poorly made...
Cheap bike made shinny, and too much money asked for it.

It all boils down to, built for looks (Bike Shed Cool) or built to ride, does the suspension work, do the tyres work are there any brakes how does it run?

Its on ebay, full mot, Parts are listed on there as well, custom fit wp suspension and various other items listed. its just a bit of fun really as a bike, but not for 6k. if id spent ages building something and new i couldnt sell if for much id be keeping it as a ornament to remind me not to do it again haha

In a very weird way this reminds me of a YT video I watched by MA developments that do all things performance with Lancer Evo's and the guy said people spend a fortune getting a fast, loud, uncompromising car, get there and realise they dont want a car like that as a daily driver and sell it.

I can't help but think with this sort of project that the outcome wasnt really what he wanted and it doesnt work as a bike to enjoy so its up for sale to remove the reminder of the short fall and recoup some money. The downside of bespoke builds if you are not careful.

Very true and that's a good other perspective actually. That's also why its good to have multiple bikes in the garage some as ornamental haha. The Gs is always the swiss army knife of the garage, though i must say on a hot sunny day riding to a lovely country pub on the Harley through the English countryside and sitting having an pint is a special feeling, must be a biker thing.
