Has anyone taken this route to Spain from Scotland?

I assume that any immigration checks will be done in Spain even though we'd be arriving from a EU country.

Do Irish Motorway tolls around Dublin apply to motorcycles?

TIA.

The M1 between Newry & Dublin has a Toll booths so you will pay there (1euro last time I passed through)
The M50 around Dublin has automatic toll cameras I think - not sure if they pick up motorbikes tho - hopefully someone more local will confirm

£200 cheaper than going out of Plymouth or Portsmouth, too
Better value to go via Ireland, unless time is a constraint

As per Flintlock, there is a toll at Drogheda on the M1 with a charge for motorcycles. The M50 toll is barrier free and is free for motorcycles. No further tolls on the M11 beyond the M50.

I've thought about it after Micky mentioned it on here. When I checked, it was on the dear side but happy to be corrected!

Ireland has a common travel arrangement with the UK but I'd expect there to be a seperate lane for non EU citizens when the boat docks in Spain.

We used it last year. One of our group had a British Passport- we all stayed together & were directed to the one area for a brief check of docs before we were permitted to continue on our way.

Still in my plans Peter .... Cairnryan to Larne, The Wild Atlantic Way, Rosslare to Bilbao and then via the Pyrenees home via France and Germany ... 'The Long Way Home' :thumby:

Nothing to do with cost .... I'm not Scottish

More to do with travel experience ... I'm Yorkshire :D

.... on a 125 :D
