CaJa Sahel : Tourenkoffer :

Proud as punch !

I always keep in touch with my customers.
To that end i asked a Customer who has travelled extensively
how he fared out with regard to the Panniers.

Philip,

Trip to Iceland was as if I was biking on the moon. Just perfect :-)
We(2 persons on the 1150GS, 2 Caja Sahel panniers, 1 Givi Maxia topcase
with rack (tent on top)and 1 BMW tankbag) did more than 4000km over
there of which 1500km were offroad.
Panniers had a hard time : tik-tak-tok said the stones, splash did the
water (12 river crossings).
Panniers performed perfectly.
Yesterday, they were cleaned and now they're waiting for new horizons.
First impression : 9/10 (because 10 doesn't exsist).

Best regards,

Laser Cut

I do try to keep the panniers progressing
These are my first one piece frames ,Laser cut, from 5MM steel.
You can see the mounting holes and the Exhaust extension attach point. The Botttom bar is the Rear steadying bar.

Comparison

Here,s the Flat and Standard lid.
I have to say "For me" the rounded lid still tickels my fancy.

Civil,

I'm really impressed with your panniers. Do you have any mounting plates for an Airhead yet? I fancy selling my Adventure panniers and having a pair of yours to fit my GSA and R80GS, if you did a mounting bracket for both bikes I could swap them over...any plans for airheads yet?

As always

Just now i am looking for a 1200 GS .
Because of the size of the Exhaust its looking like the Actual exhaust side
is goin to have to be vastly different , but essentially this system should
Clear the "Higher" exhaust on the Airhead.
Yes , is the answer .

Pannier Liners

These are made of the stuff you see on the side of trucks.
It is tarpaulin. albeit slightly lighter.
But if you want you can have yours Made of the heavier material.
These are ment only as liners .
The base is welded the Lid/Top is sewn.
You can have any size you want , but as always when you stray
from the norm it costs.
Standard : £30 . Top Box £15. + post

The Finish is Base powder coating

Which i am told can be improved upon.
My new Powder coater is a wee coatings Supremo.
Should you choose a set , we can talk about the Level of finnish you want.
He has offered me so many finnishes i have forgotten some already , but when this is "base" i can only imagine what the rest will be like.

they look really nice.... stickers look good on them too :thumb

i still prefer the look of the curved lid but understand the practicality of the flat ones.

how much to get a set like that made then?

Most expensive Almost Std set to date

Twas a Wee Maun Fai Ballymeana that achieved this finnish , he
has other sets up there , and i am expecting great things from him ,
Like Matt silver , with the red flash , to match ones Adventure !
Or the Blue "n" white GS tank.
This Particular set was requested to sit 50MM higher and a Powder coat
finnish. The 50MM was more work than anticipated, the finnish as is plain to
see exceeded all expectations. I am sure the Customer will be a happy
bunny wey these. Suffice to say they were/are expensive.

So I email's Civil a week or so ago. I says "I'm interested in having them powder coated black, quote me" and he talks me out of it! When I finally get round to ordering the damn things I'll be going back to the black finish...

Hey "Tuned dude". Did you ever get the box with the kinky locked butterfly closures on it?

nah, Civil quoted me £250 before locks hindges and powder coating...it was above what i could justify to myself paying for a top box :(
but i would like one :)

Hey Tuned In - have you tried Metal Mule? I got a full set of their panniers & top box last month and it's absolutely top quality. I've just come back from a 3 week trip with them and they are the bizz.
Highly recommended!

Liked the locks though... Compared to Touratech, the man's doing reasonable prices for good kit. It's a one-time purchase (I hope) - I think he'll get my money in the end.
