Hi ya Phillip,

Looking at the photos these boxes look a bit deeper than my pair, have you made them bigger? What litreage are they anyway :nenau

How does the bike ride with the new boxes compared to the older sharp edge ones? Be interested to know if these a difference.

Val.

Val.

Yeah , they are bigger. 45 Lts and exhaust side 43 lts.
But youcan spec the lid , low , med or this high.
No Noticeable difference , even loaded.

Thanks for that but from the pic, it looks like you have to take the lid off to get at the contents. Is this the case or are they hinged?

If you look at the Camber of the Lid , its exactly the Same angle as the
Grab rails on the 1200GSA. This is a Compromise situation.
You cannot get a set 91CM fitted with out this .
You can get Hinged , But not this Close.
AS you Know , No other set Fits this Close.
You can get cheaper , But they dont match the Quality or Fit.

Heres a hinged "Special order " .

I fitted a 1200ADV rack to my 12 for our trip to the Alpes last year. The lids lift off easily with a little twist to clear the racks hand rail.

Taking the lid off is no real problem 'infact it makes thing a little easier'. Some 'including me when I get around to it' add a couple of stainless wires so the lid hangs on the side of the pannier and also adds security in case you leave them undone. In my case the lid bounced off on a camping field so no damage :blast I double check them now :augie

Val.

PS: The best panniers I've ever fitted to a bike thus far. :rob Yeah they have a few minor issues (and what manufacturer dosen't?), but what do you expect from a couple of enthusiastic Irish guys working in their spare time in a bus station garage :nenau

I'm looking to retro fit a pair of hinges to std 1150 panniers, what supplier do you use for the hinges and how much are they

Southco, and its different for me cos i have to do the Exchange rate
with the Bank , you will find it cheaper to deal with them direct.

1150gs city panniers 9"

Hey Civil, what capacity are the city panniers 9" with flat lids me ol mate?
do you have a rear view of the city ones fitted?
oh and whats the latest price inc del to uk?
atb Paul

A comparison

same colour bike too.
Civil what width are the city bags?,the std set are 94cm, the same width as the bmw city panniers i believe.
Note the std indicators in a more prominent safer location, all made witha simple metal bracket with no mods to the indicators and can be seen from a greater angle, cool eh?

The City Bags are 9" each side. With the Std Exhaust cut out.

1150 gs city panniers in powder black

a pic of my new pannies.
these are the city set and are reasonably roomy but importantly narrow for filtering,im very pleased.
Im designing a topbox for top man Philip to construct.
They are the same width as the cylinder heads.
if you look back a few posts you can see the slight difference between these and the wider std ones.
