Looking good Phil 
Small problem with my black ones at the Powder coaters so slight delay , should get them at the end of next week.
Should point out that it was Phil's idea to mate Civils panniers to the Touratech frame and mounting system and it came about after a discussion we had. Phil was looking at TT's Zegas and I fancied Caja Sahels but was concerned that if I ever change my 1150 I might not be able to mount Civils to another bike.
The plus side of Zegas is that they can be fitted to quite a few different Adventure bikes and they also provide just the 'oval/square' section of the pannier frame so that you can get your own frames manufactured. The panniers just look tinny compared to Civils though and the feedback on here suggests that the Sahels were definitely the one's to go for.
We looked at the dimensions of both makes and then we asked Civil if he could supply us one 'city' pannier and one full sized pannier to create a 'balanced' system just like the Zega one. " No problems" he said - Sorted
We then sourced the Zega mounting kit and some TT frames. Phil made a fancy template to help make fitting the mounting kit to the panniers a lot easier( PM him if you want any advice 'cos it made the job much easier ).
Anybodyelse on here done this combination already???????

looks reat but im curious as to why the left pannier (from the rear) isnt sat out the same as the right. i realise the pipe is there but wouldnt it make more sense to have it all even?
It's exaggerated somewhat by the angle that the photo is taken at, otherwise you pretty much answered your own question.
There is no cut out for the exhaust. If there was a cutout then the pannier case would be pretty much 'applicated' to the one model of bike. Its not as bad as it looks when u see it in real life.
Its the same as the touratech 35ltr / 41 ltr combination. You could buy the Touratech 'sondersystem' ( Special system) which I think gives you 41ltr x 2 but its hideously expensive and you begin to wonder how much space does one actually need?

im thinking theres a pretty penny to be made if you came up with an under seat exhaust system then.. still wouldnt mind that set up and my touring system would make 150 on ebay towards the cost of these.

The only way to even it up a bit is to buy the panniers with a cut out for the exhaust pipe this means bike specific panniers and frames ,I wanted to be able to use these on my wifes transalp which will be possible once i fit the frames ...the left hand pannier is smaller in width than the right so the outside edge of the panniers are equal distance from centre line of bike...

there ya go. thats a good idea but i worked out the cost at about 1200 quid all in, was that right?

Mules with the narrow exhaust option costs about £400-£500 more than I've spent ...I looked at all the options before i made my choice yes mules with narrow exhaust would have been a good way to go but they are way to much money there good but not that good

Far better than the Zega's at least these have locks.
Prefer my Mules as they have carry handles and hinged lid. Handy for traipsing through hotels "how come I always get the furthest away room"

Also thanks to Touratech they got frames and mounting kits to me in about five days
mmmmmm but one does have to question the wisdom of the locking......well closing device..... allen heads exposed.....loop-over-jobbie...

False economy IMHO if your precious kit goes walkies
besides.... agree with Oonyack..... MM carrying handles..ease of on-off and real locking mechanism, etc etc Glad I'm not the only one with the 'yours is the furthest room down the corridor!!'
and Pispster..yes, MM's are that good.

The allen bolts will not undo as they have nylock nuts on the inside try to undo them and they just spin round ...Dont kid yourself if someone wants to rob your panniers there gone mule or any other make at least i'll have £400 less to spend on a replacement set

I love the look of Metal Mules but I didnt feel the actual panniers were significantly better than Civils' for the large price difference. I suppose it sort of depends on how much use you are going to get out of them and how much you value some of the aesthetics. They are all really just big square metal boxes for carrying stuff in at the end of the day.
If you want to make comparisons though when you start looking at locks ( as Oonyack pointed out the one's on the Sahel are much better than Zegas) and especially carrying handles etc aren't they all essentially 'extra cost ' items on the MMs? Most of the people on the forum could quite easily source and fit their own.

Funny you should say that . Mark ( Grandtrousers ) has a really nice custom made underseat exhaust system on his GSA and is currently looking at luggage system with 2 full size panniers to take advantage of his 'pipe'.
He had his pipe made by some outfit in the NW who's name escapes me.
