I've done that trip twice, using the the routes of the 1964 & 1966 Monte Carlo Rallyes (both victories for Mini Coopers, but discqualified on a technicality in '66. The French driver who "won" by default was outraged and refused to accept the trophy.) Long way round both times, but really great roads. If you're interested PM me and I could point you to where you could get a copy of both routes.
