I'm off to San Fransisco in a week, renting a GS from Dubelju and planning a trip up route 1 and down through the Sierra Nevada over 6 days.
So I'm failing to make a descisicon on Helmets - and I know I will be annoyed if I get this wrong.
System 6 Touring or Davida open face?
What do folks think?

Open face. Much better to view that spectacular scenery you will encounter.
Enjoy.:thumby:

At the beginning of May, conditions in the High Sierras can still be pretty cold. In fact, some of the passes might still be closed. Check on their status on the Caltrans website before choosing a route.

So, apart from the fact that I don't use an open face helmet at all these days, I'd still advise you to take your full face lid.

If Gwynne (small lady with long platinum blonde hair) is working in Dubbelju the day you're there, please say hello for me.

Open face................

and insist on wearing it on the plane - they'll prob upgrade you. :rob

That's a good tip, thank you. And I will certainly say hi to Gwynne for you.

Shark Evoline - best of both worlds and if you shop around you can get them for £240-270.

Done 2 trips to the top out of San Fran

Deffo full face :thumb2
There are insects that feel about the size of a half brick when they hit the visor:eek:

Shark Evoline.

Me, the Mrs. and our friends used them on last years PCH trip and they proved to be just the job :thumb2

Okay, thanks everyone. As much as it would be nice to go open face, I guess this is why flip front helmets were invented.

Have a good trip Mark...at least you'll know how to fix the starter.....

Thoroughly recommend the Shark Evoline 3 also....brilliant helmets and the best of both worlds

Hope you had a great trip Mark

Im sitting in LAX right now at the end of two fantastic weeks over here.
We hired couple of convertibles and had roof down most of the time but not in the heavy snow, hail stones and monsoon rains that followed us from Grand Canyon to San Diego.

Be good to hear of your experience.

Cheers

Jim

been there too…..wanted both lids !!! in Death Valley the sand was a nightmare and in Yosemite it snowed !! first week of june !!!

but in LA and San fran an open face was ace

I just realised I never wrote up this trip. So I'm on it now. But here is a little instagram vid of me in the Sierra Nevada to be going on with.
