Well, having raided the scraps I had lying around in the shed and made my diy power outlet to power my iphone while TomTom does its best to drain the battery, I turned my attention to how will I hear the flippin thing?
Ideally I wanted some in-helmet speakers that would mean I could still wear earplugs too. However, I couldn't find any locally, and I don't have time to order them before I head away for a couple of days. So...
Take:
one pair of cheapo foam ear-plugs
one kitchen knife
one set of sennheiser earphones.
Pull the wee rubber doodah off the headphones
Gouge a small hole down the centre of the earplug
Insert earphone into earplug.
Hey-presto! One pair of cheapskate sound deadening in-ear earphones. Bose? Shmose!
They actually work very well, except you have to turn the treble up if you are listening to music because the earplugs do absorb a lot of it. But I now have a set of cheap and hygeinic monitors (just throw on another pair of cheap earplugs). Chuffed to bits.
Would load a pic or two, but I can't get into photobucket for some reason...
