I've only had the bike a just over a week. Just been cleaning the bike and it appears that there is a slight difference in paint finish between the tank and beak.

The tank appears to be more matt than the beaks finish. It's kinda difficult to describe, but under natural light there is some difference. I bet its somthing to do with the beak being plastic and the tank being metal.

Whats yours like?

Paint Finish

Yeah mine exactly the same my friend, Do not worry about it....You have an absolute gem of a bike, :thumb

Thanks Macca, still suffering from new bike nerves. I'll be OK when I've dropped the thing a few times :o

just imagine a 7 series driver noticing this on his bonnet - not matching the wings exactly.

Don't worry sir - they're all like that.

COMPLAIN FFS !!

Had mine 2 months - yeah, I guess there is a slight variation, but you can't see it whilst you're riding so no problem then!

Amazing bike - I'm averaging over 100miles/ride - never known anything like it.

As for dropping it, don't worry - the low C of G makes low speed riding a doddle

Just enjoy it!

I can't see the point of complaining, like you said 'don't worry sir they're all like that' Now if they weren't I'd definatley say something to the dealer.

Now that the se owners club is here :D :D Anybody have the engine cut out when they were rolling up to a stop and the engine heat at 5 bars ? One of the UK guys and I have had it so I'm curious. By the way the baglux tank cover in white is rge dogs bollo**s. Got mine from Liam in Hein Gericke manchester ... top guy. :clap :clap Y piece and spots going on next week. White is the new silver :bow :bow :bow

Paint Finish

Yup, my SE is the same - crappy paint job - rough with a few areas on contamination too. I have mentioned to the dealer who has said it will be looked at under warranty. I'll probably leave it until the first service tho as the bike is presently covered in 2 cans of ACF50 and various other preventative potions, topped with half an inch of winter grime!

Cheers Griff :beerjug:

Not me.

Mine is all the same paint I doubled checked on intial inspection, it was one of the main worries I had when getting the colour as my dealer here had lined up a Black, Silver and White one for me to compare. The flat white did it for me.

I unfortunately managed to scar the blue seat the second day I had it and then scrapped the peg mounts when I fitted the fastways.....not new anymore and very much mine I guess:D

Get the paint sorted through the warranty, I had 15 visits to Park Lane BMW on my last Black GSA, rot on the fork lowers and braces twice was just some of the issues.

Enjoy the bike:thumb

All the same

It looks all the same to me :D . I wish I could find those tankprotectors/covers. You Europeans have all the goodies you know..
Love the bike however as it rides like a dream.

Paint & Fuelling Probs

Yep... Mines slightly different too... I reckon it's plasitc vs metal, given the paint is matt - I doubt the finish can be dupilcated - colours the same, it's just the finish.

I was very precious for a week or two - it's now covered in ACF50 and half an inch of crud - normally if a bike I owned looked like that I wouldn't be able to sleep, but just seems wrong to ride a clean GS.

Re: Lukes comments on the cutting out - I'm the UK guy, did 180 miles yesterday and she didn't fail, although she is still idling below 1000rpm it seems. What I did discover was a very slight surging effect at 3000rpm - noticeable more via vibes than a change in pace, but got me wondering if the two aren't related - Carb balancing??? Might post this on the tech section actually.

Enjoy the bike. - Richard

Thanks for the Info!!!! :thumb :D

I also bought an 1150 GSA SE at Xmas.

I think the bike is absolutely amazing, i love it and i've so far done 450 miles.

The bike has never cut out on me but I have noticed a slight vibration (surging type of thing). For me this seems to happen in 4th gear at 45mph! It really isn't an issue but it just reminded me when I read the replies to this thread.
