Calling all GARMIN SPIII & Autocom Owners - Advice Needed

I've just bit the bullet and opted for a SPIII and the urge to have a lurvely lady guide me through the streets of London is causing me to wonder about the possibilty of combining the two - trouble is I'm already music'd and bike2bike's up.

Those of you who have done this what route did you take or did you just opt for yet another over-priced lead from Autocom @ £40-£50?

Answers on a postcard - but fearing the worst I might just forgo the pleasures and only enjoy the voice prompting in the car.

I went the route of buying the lead, although it cost me less than £20.... (I've a sneaking suspicion my dealer accidently undercharged me, though). Autocom told me that I only needed the special lead if I powered both the Garmin & the Autocom from the bike. City Slicker suggested that the lead contains a circuit which only costs £1, although you'd have to ask him for details. Being unversed in the ways of electronics, I paid the money...

The results are excellent. I don't use a music system, but run my Garmin & mobile 'phone through my Pro M1, as well as a bike to bike radio. I believe (maybe mistakenly) that you can put a 'Y piece' (no, not that type...) into either of the available sockets on the Pro M1 & connect either music & GPS or 'phone & GPS etc together. Be aware of which channel/socket takes priority, though - you may find your bike to bike radio being muted by Bitching Betty, and the muting cycle lasts for a reasonable length of time.... If you have a different model of Autocom, the latter advice may be irrelevant

Thanks for that Mike - mine is a Pro-M1 and you were definately under-charged on that lead - well done that man . Hopefully Eddie will come to my rescue now and save me buying yet another over-priced lead that isn't really required.
