What is the 'magic liquid' someone referred to that they said you put on your headers to keep them sparkly?

I cant find the thread it was in, if indeed it isnt mythical or a dream.

Elbow Grease......nothing magical or mythical about that.......

Power wash after liberal squish with Muc-Off keeps the whole bike spotless.

Once a month I'll use AutoGlym metal polish to completely clean up the headers etc......

Follow this link to see how clean it gets just after a wash........http://www.bmwridersscotland.com/bulletinboards/viewtopic.php?p=621

I find keeping them clean is much better than trying to clean off accumulated shyte, IMHO.....

The extended front fender also plays a big part in keeping the shyte from getting to the headers in the first place....

If your pipes are well en-crudded then a drop of wonder wheels cleans it pretty well and then can be finished off with Autosol. Be careful with the Wonder wheels as I think it's dilute sulphuric acid and is sold for cleaning alloy wheels. I wouldn't use it on the bike wheels but I have used it on the header pipes and it makes the cleaning/polishing a lot easier, just brush on, leave for a minute and wash off, then auto-sol.
I picked this tip up from someone on this forum and it works pretty well.

Chris,
I thought that you had the MBW "chrome" headers fitted. Am I correct?

Hi Keith.....

......they might look it, but they are just the standard stainless steel........

Chrome headers

You might be pleased to know that the new GS can now be ordered with chrome headers, similar to the ones on the R1200C, so they don't turn blue. I don't know if they are double walled or not, but it's a CAD$200 option, as are clear frosted turn signal lenses which are a CAD$35 option.
