Hi all,

I've taken the decision , I think :blast to sell my beloved '02 VFR and buy a GS. I had an F650GS a few years ago, and though the viffer is great, roads in Ireland:aidan aint. Prices for GS's here are completely loopy (check out www.kearysmotorrad.ie if you dont believe this!), the UK doesnt seem a lot better, so I figure the Fatherland is the place to go. Nonetheless I face a 25% increase in costs for a similar aged bike to what I have:eek:

Upon selling the VFR plus cash, I should have a budget of €8k, maybe a bit more, and am looking for an 03 (or pre-servo!) GS, perferably a GSA, though I might have to go back to an 02 for an Adventure? Here's one though it looks like I might have to put up with a bit of surface corrosion.......

My question to German resident GSer's..........is anyone in a position to assist with tracking down a few suitable candidate bike's, in due course?

As I said, having to sell the VFR, plus weather etc, means it will probably be April before I get over, but if anyone has any advice/offers, I'd love to hear from you, by reply to the thread, or PM.

Thanks for reading, ride safe y'all!

The one that you put the link for is only 70 miles from me in sunny Gutersloh (post code 33330)

If you find anything in my area (1 hr or so) give me a shout and I would be happy to give it a look over for you, before you make the journey to buy it.

I will also have a look in the local dealer, as he often gets some well priced second hand models in.

Regards, Davie.

That bike actually looks quite nice, and is in the fastest black colour!

I must admit though, I can't see any surface corrosion!

As I said before let me know if you want any help/info/accom etc.

Davie.

Hi Davie and Andy,

Thanks for the offers - I might just take you up on them in due course. I attach a higher res. image of that GSA, which (I think) shows the slight issues around the front disc, engine bolts, pegs ? exhaust section? that I suggested - though possibly nothing that cannot be relatively easily put right. Interestingly, the fork brace and fork leg ends appear to be fine........

Andy, that local dealer of yours doesn't appear to have any 1150gs's at present, but by all means let me know if you become aware of any. As I can get to Dusseldorf relatively easily from Dublin, for me, that would be a good base around which to search. And, for that same reason, Frankfurt, Hamburg.etc. I dont think I'll extend my search to more distant areas such as Berlin or Munich, being a good deal farther to get back from, they also increase my 'possible' candidate bikes by too much!

If I do this, assistance with stuff like streamlining the export plates/license etc would be much appreciated - any advise in this area?

Keep in touch, and thanks again.

Paul

...oh, and doesn't this look like a REAL bargain::eek: a 1150GSA only registered in September last, fully loaded and with only 11,000km on the clock for €8500 - OK, the 12GSA was available then, but its still a steal, surely. Pity I cannot move on it yet!:thedummy
