Im off to Norway on Monday and a hip friend has just informed me that it is the
longest day on the 21st which is about when we will be near Nordkapp.
Im assuming, that because of this it will be busy.
Accommodation not an issue as more than happy wild camping.
Was wondering though is there anything happening, like bike rallies or festivals etc.
I've tried google with no luck.
Thanks, Paul.

Hi!

Summer Solstice are at 21th of June.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summer_solstice , as you mentioned. But that is not a 'big day' at Nordkapp as they have sun 24 hours a day that time of the year.

There are not many meetings up north I know of, but I hope this list help: http://arkiv.nmcu.org/tur/hurtigliste.asp There are more meetings, but that is the only I know.

Here is a lot of clubs, all over Norway. http://nmcu.org/klubber The only way I know to make sure you do not miss a meeting up in Finnmark is to contact all th clubs up there, and ask. Or call the dealers in Finnmark and ask if they know.
I'm just outside Oslo, in the other end of this long contry. And it's Friday, and you need to know Monday, so... Well, I can try to e-mail some places up north, and hope for a reply soon.

At some meetings they celebrate St.Hans (as we call it) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_John's_Eve one of the weekends close to the date.

I have no idea if they are going to be busy at Nordkapp at 21th or 24th, but I have never heard it is a busy day up there.

The most special and bust day in Norway, all over the contry, is our National Day, 17th of May.

I hope I helped you! :-)

Thankyou Liv for taking time to reply.
Please don't worry about doing any more for us.
Just thought there may have been a bit of a do on for the solstice.
If you could put a couple of quid in the good weather metre and start your sun dance for next week that would be great.
Thanks again, Paul.

Hi!

I'll ask for perfect weather, then. :)

If you want to know from what date they can see the sun all day&night at Nordkapp: http://www.timeanddate.no/astronomi/sol/norge/nordkapp?month=5
And no sun at all: http://www.timeanddate.no/astronomi/sol/norge/nordkapp?month=11 - but that is perfect for the Northern Lights! But perhaps not perfect biking conditions for you? :P

And if they start update this again you can wave to us! http://nordkapp.livecam360.com/ ...or go to Hooningsvåg, and hope they start to update again. (I wonder why they don't?) http://honningsvag.livecam360.com/flash/main.php

If I think of something I'll post it here. Hopefully Sunday or tomorrow, but don't hold your breath. :)

I hope you'll like this contry!

:) Liv.
