What did you do with your motorised flap thing :D

I've just fitted a Remus decat (to a WC but I'll ask here 'cos there's more of you that are likely to have done it ..) and for the moment have left the pulley cables in situ and have just cable tied them out the way.

Have any of you actually unclipped the wiring and then unscrewed the flap motor unit jobby ????

Aha .... That's great Alan ... thanks ... :beerjug:

Hello Giles,
http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?352658-Exhaust-Valve-Eliminator-Tube this thread has the information you need - with pictures too.

I think I got one of the last few for sale on that link ...... try the OP and see if he has any left.

I am not confident with the spanners, but fitted his link pipe in a few minutes 2 nights ago.

Disconnecting the wires is so easy to do. I'm a numptie and it took me 10 minutes.

Re the plug on flap motor unit jobbie..... it was hard to see, but depress the front 'safety catch' with a small screw-driver and pull. It will un-plug.
Then unscrew unit from frame. 2 more screws will remove the back of the unit.
Really easy and obvious..... remove the 2 nipple cables and it's disconnected. The motor still operates, but cables aren't attached to anything and ECU thinks it's still operating the flap.

Either tie up your cables or replace the unit (which was surprisingly heavy) with a bit of stainless steele pipe. I had a couple of rubber grommets lying about which I bunged in the area where the cables used to be and they should waterproof the inside of the unit.

Try Falco9, who stuck the above link up originally..... he may actually have one bit of pipe left. Failing that, I'd be surprised if your local exhaust specialist couldn't rustle a bit up for next to nothing.

It seems the WC is even easier than the hexhead :)

The wires are a synch to get out of the motorised thingy and the buterfly valve thing is all one part of the exhaust now. (So no tube required - remus can fits straight onto remus headers ..)

Thanks Alan for the link .... :thumb2

For a twin cam you can either fit the eliminator, or save cash and fit the complete system from an 04-09 bike and save a lot of time and money :D

I'm about to do this on my wc if its like my TC I'd presume the cable ends have nipples that attach to the cams in the motorised valve ! Do they just unclip and push out. Leaving the motorised controller in place as per my TC.

Yes. Loosen off the bolt that holds the motorised unit firm, but don't bother to unclip the wiring. You only need to loosen it in order to get to one torx screw that is behind one of the trellis frame bits. Once you can wiggle it enough to get to all three screws, take the cover off and you can get to the cables which, as you say, pop out very easily.

They are held into the whole system with some sliding plastic tabs. I sprayed a tad of wd40 onto the tabs to help them slide and then nipped them out of their housing with a pair pliers. The photo shows the sliding tabs.

I'll revisit the housing over the next few days and block up the two holes that the tabs have left behind (I'll have a think !!) to keep water out.

A drain hole at the bottom of boxes like these is a good way to deal with water. Hermetically sealing everything is virtually impossible so this lets any water or condensation escape.
