Hi folks, I've decided after careful consideration not to give BMW another huge amount of my hard earned and am keeping my 2010 Yellow GSA a bit longer.

Thinking of painting / powder coating my crash bars and head protectors black when I get my centre stand done as it's bugging me with the rest of the bike being in pretty good condition.

Has anyone else done this, if so can we see pics as it will help with my decision.

Thanks in advance.

Not yellow I know. But should give you an idea. Got mine powdercoated satin black and I'm very pleased with the result. Also had pannier frames done. Still not sure about the valve covers but there's a danger of becoming too black

That looks great...apart from the head covers :thumb2

I have exactly the same bike as you, albeit a 2011, can't beat a TC!..and as everyone knows the yellow GSA was put together by angels.

I got my crash bars powder coated in gloss black. They are of course stainless so don't "need" to be coated.

I scrapped the engine bars (they do more harm than good) and fitted X-head protectors (satin black plastic). Alloy wheels were done in the same gloss black.

Im thinking about wrapping the body panels in brushed stainless effect. £50 for some material has to be worth a try.

Head protectors don't corrode, and it takes very little to protect the crash bars?

Powder-coated crash bars & bash plate. Black vinyl panniers. Haven't thought about the head covers (until now).

The only problem with powder coating your 'lower regions' is that they start off nice and shiny, but then the road crap shot blasts them and they start to look dull, but I would certainly do it again.

The wheels are BM's. It's a GSA model.

Thanks gents for all the input, keep it coming.

Here's mine once I managed to make the pic small enough by emailing it back to myself from my phone, what a faff. Just need to get it the right way would have been handy, bloody iPads.
