Cannot believe I did not post this before.....

August 2013 saw me break down whilst up in Morayshire. My 1150GSA was taken into Calterdon / Inverness for a pretty serious check-up and necessary maintenance. Was not cheap but needed done.
Train back to Glasgow.....due at the Beatson for another cycle of chemo.
I'm telling you this because by the time I thought I could ride again, I was back in Inverness to get the bike and discovered that, there was no way in hell I was going to ride.
Apologising to Calterdon, asking if they might reccommend a local hotel, they responded "why not stay with us Sir?"
I beg your pardon.....stay with you.....at the BMW garage??
"Yes Sir, we keep an apartment here, ready for any customer who is caught out - like you!"

I wasn't too sure about this whole plan but their courtesy driver picked me up from the rail station and dropped me, with bags at the side door of Calterdon. Next door is a small apartment, bedroom, bathroom and small lounge - complete with wifi, TV and mini-bar!!!

So........if you HAVE to break down in the Highlands, go to CALTERDON BMW!!!!

Calterdon, as such, is no more. It was bought by Arnold Clark under the guise of Harry Fairbairn. I'd be very suprised if they still offer an apartment for their customers and if they do, there's no doubt a suitable charge for it. Arnold isn't noted for his generosity or anything else related to good customer service, come to that.

Nope, the flat is no longer available, last I heard it was full of tyres as I've used it in the past when having my bike serviced. Due to cost now I've started using my local shop in Wick. Only a 40 mile round trip rather than 220 miles and either a long day or a B&B at inflated Inverness prices.

Mmmm, Fanny Hairburns, certainly not recommended by either me or my mate. my mate was quoted £330 for a service, he called Motorrad Central (Dalkeith) same service, £225.

They also discovered an ill fitting rubber seal on the FD fitted by HF (12 months previously) and it had to be replaced because it was split, was HF interested ?? not on life were they.

On my last visit there for a service, before I bought my 2014 RT from Douglas Park.

I enquired from a young salesman whether I could talk to him about a new RT ? err no was his reply 'no one here to sell you a bike.'

After putting this on my 'how did we do today' form I received numerous calls from BMW UK and Arnold Clark Glasgow. Neither was impressed.

Coincidentally, in 2008, I called John Clark in Dundee to order a new K1200GT and was told by one of theirs' - "I wouldn't....."
No reason, no explanation.
I did find out later that the K1300GT was due soon but why not say that?!?!
