Folks,
I am kitting up for the Calum's road run.

Parts I have
Air filter, oil filter, gear change, clutch lever, front brake lever, FPC, ews, other bits as posted by others.
To buy
alternator belt, throttle cable
Question
Do I need
side stand switch and gear posn indicator switch are these nice to have or are they show stoppers?

I thank you in advance.

And yes I understand it is not a 1150:D

The side stand switch (and brake) can be 'wired out of the equation' if it gets damaged/fails so no need for a spare :thumb2

As fot the gear position switch I don't know - if it fails will it stop the bike starting/running or is it just a case of not telling you what gear you are in :nenau

FPC and ESW ring are all that I would think - you would need.

But - I'd take the following (between you all)

very small digital multimeter
A metre of 20A cable, 10A cable
Assorted spade/bullet connectors
A pair of small electrical long-nosed pliers with a 'bluntish' cutting jaw (to use as a crimping tool)
Some self-amalgamating tape,
some electrical tape.
Leatherman or Gerber multitool.
Hex driver with torx/slot/Philips bits.

As has been said side stand switch. Don't know about 1200 GPI but it doesn't affect the running of an 1150 if it goes wrong.

Out of interest, why an alternator belt unless you have high mileage on the bike:nenau They are supposed to last 40,000 miles or so aren't they and you'll only be doing 6,000 max? Sorry for the hijack, just interested as I haven't heard of them failing prematurely.

Can I be your new best friend ?;)

I have found Jet boils @ £56 from the Outdoor Shop in Stony Stratford.

Just had a thought about your list Bhud.

If you're on a standard 1200GS does it have brush guards fitted?

If not you may be better off fitting good guards and maybe not need the spare levers. Just a thought.

Alternator belt gets changed at the 24k service apparently. Having mine done at the beginning of December. Also new rear disk (already below spec at 19K :blast)

Apart from that taking FPC, ring antenna, assorted tools that I usually cart along with me anyway as well as BA tape and other assorted bits and bobs I don't think one would need much more. May think about throttle cable though. oh, and some rear brake pads, then again, I'll change those jest before we go so probably no need to take those along.
