Just rebuild the central ignition unit on my 1965 R50
Thick wires, solid screws, wire chaos in the head light unit
......and not a CamBus or CPU in sight.....
One switch ...ignition on and off, side light and main beam...that’s it...
Cleaned the petrol tap.......see all the black residue in the bottom of the tap housing......
Man was it simple back then ...
She runs well the old girl nevertheless...

How does the traction control and hill start assist work then? :D

How did anyone manage to ride hilly roads?

Only issue is that the wiring plate underneath the switch is a POC that cracks and bends, so that your ignition switch won’t work properly. When you replace it it’s held in place by bendable tangs which are part of the headlamp shell moulding, which. Will break if not annealed. It might be simple but it’s not a brilliant piece of engineering.
